1.
Passing time again Just like Abraham Keeping an eye out for the promised land When one day I realized That everything I do does not require a prize If someone had figured that out Then no one would be so proud To find out we only die because we grow And that's all we'll ever know Gently tied to a tree Like the men before me And the world takes back what it gave to me And it all comes down to how I felt that day When dad took me to hear the playful way That someone tried to figure it out But no one should be so proud To find out we only die because we grow And that's all we'll ever know Would I rather have felt so sad? Or would I rather have felt glad I helped The world find a better way To simply say Today's a lucky day For someone to figure it out And no one can be so proud To find out we only die because we grow And that's all we'll ever know That's all we'll ever know
2.
Who calls the shots? Who makes us stop on this green earth? We're all just dots At our throats in a melting pot But who calls the shots? The oceans at our fingertips Yet we stay here for another trip I don't think life's one big ego trip But I'll gladly take the biggest hit I can get Talking in our sleep Trying not to get in too deep In this world oh so bleak Straight from the heart Don't mean much anymore But some call it art With oceans at our fingertips Yet we stay here for another trip I don't think life's one big ego trip But I'll gladly take the biggest hit I can get Yeah I'll gladly the hit Oceans at our fingertips
3.
What time is it? Does it really matter What crime is it? Just call me the mad hatter Because I've been dreaming bout you And I know you've been feeling it too Yup Been thinking that it's time to rest easy Been having a hard time without you here with me It's time to rest easy and breathe Only in our dreams will we ever be Only in our dreams will they ever see Rest easy, speak easy Don't question the tides of the sea
4.
The moon is shining down tonight I can't help it if don't feel alright I just wanna know why you gotta be so hard Why you gotta be so hard The moon is shining down tonight But does it have to shine on all these dark fights I just wanna stay and go on living my life Why you gotta bring the light The moon is shining down tonight (shining down tonight) The moon is shining and it's alright (shining and it's alright) The moon is shining down tonight I can't help it if it don't feel right But don't go down tonight Don't go down tonight...
5.
It's coming down It's gonna blow Everything's spinning unwound All the things that I sow Knock at my door I won't answer it The bible told me to swear to it so leave it alone Nobody's home Sing along Like they did before What's right and wrong Made by those who came before No middle ground, no compromise No time to waste, no time to be off tone Nobody's home Our cries bounce off the lifeless rocks As we sit and watch the ticking clocks Will anyone ever pick up the phone Or is nobody home
6.
It's easy to love you When I'm tied up like this It's easy to hold you But I find myself wishing for a twist (a twist baby, a twist without a list) It's a long way down When you're endlessly bound Take a few from some old books Maybe then we'll find a new outlook Stuck in an endless circle Of trying to remake the past But how could we cut the cords If we'd hit the ground too fast? It'd be a long way down When you're endlessly bound
7.
With a gleam in your eyes you told me goodbye And all I could say was "Hell, at least we tried" And now I'm stuck here wondering why It hurts so bad inside when I got a whole bunch of time to start a new life I'm broke and broken is how I feel with you Nothing's going right and now there's nothing else to do And singing your love song doesn't sway you anymore Now I'm knocking on your front door Spending days in bed ain't no reason to smile Unless you got a girl like I did for just a little while But now I'm all alone Waiting by my phone for someone to call me up and say let's try again I'm broke and broken is how I feel with you Nothing's going right and there's nothing else to do And singing your love song doesn't sway you anymore But now I'm knocking on your front door I'm broke and broken is how I feel with you Nothing's going right and there's nothing else to do And singing your love song doesn't sway you anymore But now I'm knocking on your front door I'm knocking on your front door
8.
What are words worth when no one's there? Is there any sense in speaking up when no one's gonna hear? You should've known by now I was only made to break I'm not a work of art and there's no cracking this stone cold heart But maybe someday I'll be more than just a monkey man I'll be more than a machine You won't be hoping praying wishing no more No more And you'll find what you're looking for And that's not me anymore While I'm taking all you give When it's time for me to pay I just play the part Automatic is not how I say I feel everyday But just going through the motions seems to be the only way For now you may be fine But you know deep down you wish you could rewind But maybe that's enough to make me see That part of me wants to believe That maybe someday I'll be more than just a monkey man I'll be more than a machine You won't be hoping praying wishing no more No more And you'll find what you're looking for And that'll be me... the monkey man machine
9.
I hold my feelings ever close to you But I won't give my heart out exposed in the blue Now I won't be scared I'll hold this world within my heart And I can't compare this feeling to anything I've known When it's simply just an either or Or you wind up face first on the floor And it's somewhere right out your door From my youth to the present I've faced the ups and downs This mindless philosophy has got me Rising above the old crowns Soaring through reality On a cloud made from my fears Screaming out to tell the world That it's fine if you never see clear It's all somewhere right out your door Somewhere right out your door... Life's just one big egotrip?! Life's just... Life's just... Life's just one big egotrip!
10.
Isn't It? 04:04
Just like the men in the caves Or the first ones to brave the waves Hell I got problems and my aspirations And I don't got the right information She tells me it will work out fine Don't question why, don't cross the line Sad but it's true that it's up to you No one else can help you through Isn't it clear to you What we all have to do Isn't it just so obvious That this war is within all of us Isn't it clear to you that you gotta help yourself before I do Then you'll know it's up to you Finding something to pass your time Maybe something like a rhyme or something like a crime Or maybe helping all you see Isn't that what you'd want to be All this beauty all around So much to be seen, so much to be found We could wander and drift along here But we'd rather just take the bus there It's up to you...
11.
...The End 05:08
If this is the end Of time it's come at last And round the bend Who knows what happens then But now we don't have to pretend That we didn't want this in the end But I'm just glad you helped me understand That there's no one I'd rather have holding my hand And jump into the end Jump into the end darling Jump into the end Into the end... The end

about

Three years in the making, "Oceans at Our Fingertips" has been an album I have had in the back of my mind since I really stopped working on music projects following my sophomore year. This past fall, I purchased an electric drum kit, and found my creative side churning again. I therefore decided to give these songs proper recordings and let them see the light of day. Most of them I wrote 2+ years ago, with only a couple of them being written within the past year ("Moon Is Shining" and "Endlessly Bound"). Some even stretch back four years and didn't make the cut for my last album "The Paths We Take" but I didn't want to shelf them as b-sides ("Nobody's Home", "Isn't It?", "...The End"). Happy listening! If you want to learn more about the thought process behind the album, then check out the "album extras" that comes with a free download of the album.

Writing music and examining life in our strange and beautiful world.
All music is free. Mostly soft acoustic music with all kinds of influences. I record what I can with a mic, acoustic guitar, random "instruments" I can get my hands on, and, of course, garageband effects :)
